Linda Briskin has been taking pictures for years. She had her first solo show in April 2007. "An Hour from the City: An Exhibit of Photographs" at the Art Gallery, Joan & Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts (York University) was curated by Jennifer Rudder. Recently, she exhibited photographs in the 10th Annual Photography Group Exhibition, Praxis Gallery (Toronto, May 2007), and in the "Light Night 2007", an exhibition in Iceland (August-September 2007). She has an upcoming show at G+ Galleries (Toronto) in May 2008 during the Contact photography festival.
"The landscape is invented through our gaze: what we choose to see, how we look, and look away, and look again. I seek light, lines, shadows and reflections. The play of figure-ground, of positive and negative space, images that may last only a breath. Nothing is quite what it seems: not in life, not in photographs."
